Privacy policy

We built this site so you can look for care without giving up your privacy. This page explains what happens to your information when you use findingrehab.io.

Last updated

This site is a preview. This policy describes how the site works today. It will be reviewed before the site launches, and we will update it if anything changes.

The short version

  • There are no accounts, sign ups or forms.
  • We do not set cookies.
  • We do not collect health information. The concierge runs on your device, and your answers are not sent to us or to anyone else.
  • Your Saved list stays in your browser on your device.
  • We do not sell or share personal information. There are no ads and no ad trackers.
  • Our host, Cloudflare, processes basic technical data to deliver the site, and counts visits without cookies.

What we collect

We do not ask for your name, email, phone number or address. What you type or choose in the concierge is not sent to us.

If you email us, we receive your message and your email address. We use them only to reply to you and to keep a record of what you asked. Please do not include health details about yourself or anyone else.

The concierge

The Admissions Concierge runs entirely in your web browser. Your answers stay on your device. That includes where you are, who care is for, the kind of help, substances, level of care, coverage, travel distance, timing, and anything you type in the message box. They are not sent to findingrehab.io, to any treatment program, or to anyone else.

To show results, your browser downloads the same listing files that every visitor gets. When you enter a ZIP code, your browser also downloads a small file of map points for ZIP codes that start with the same first three digits. Like any request for a page or file, that request shows our host which file was asked for. It does not include your other answers.

When you choose "See all matches," the concierge opens a state page. Filters that describe programs, like level of care, go in the page address. Your ZIP code, and anything else the state page needs from your answers, are passed in your browser's session storage instead. Session storage stays on your device and is cleared when you close the tab.

The concierge is a short questionnaire, not a medical assessment. It does not keep your answers anywhere else. When you close the tab, they are gone.

Saved programs

When you save a program, the list is stored in your browser's local storage on this device. It is not sent to us. It stays until you remove programs from your Saved page or clear your browser data.

Anyone who uses the same device and browser could see your Saved list. If that worries you, use a private or incognito window. Saved programs in a private window are removed when you close it.

Filters and page addresses

On state pages, filters like city, treatment focus, level of care, coverage, language and accreditation are added to the page address. That lets you share or bookmark a search. Like any page address, it reaches our host when the page loads. These filters describe programs, not you.

We never put your ZIP code or your concierge answers in a page address or a page title. A ZIP code you enter on a state page stays in session storage for that tab only.

Cookies and browser storage

We do not set cookies. We use your browser's storage for two things only:

  • Local storage keeps your Saved list on your device.
  • Session storage carries your ZIP code, and the concierge search you chose, between pages in the same tab. It is cleared when you close the tab.

Cloudflare's security tools can set a cookie in rare cases, for example if a visitor is asked to prove they are not a bot. Those cookies are for security only. We do not use them to track anyone.

Cloudflare, our host

findingrehab.io is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. This includes your IP address, the pages and files your browser asks for, and basic browser details.

We have not turned on any logging that stores this data for us. Cloudflare shows us totals, and its security tools may show us details, like an IP address, for requests they block. You can read Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Visit counts

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and measure how fast pages load. It does not use cookies or local storage, and Cloudflare says it does not fingerprint visitors. It gives us totals, such as page views, which pages were visited, which sites sent visitors, and the countries, browsers and devices they used. We never send concierge answers to analytics.

Fonts and outside services

Our fonts are stored on our own site. Our pages do not load anything from Google, social media sites or ad networks.

Some links take you to other sites, like a program's website, Google Maps for directions, or government sites. Those sites have their own privacy policies. "Get directions" sends the program's address to Google Maps, not your location.

Health information

We do not collect health information. The concierge and the Saved list keep what you do on your device. See our consumer health data policy below for more detail.

Consumer health data privacy policy

Some states have laws about "consumer health data." They include Washington's My Health My Data Act, Nevada's consumer health data law and Connecticut's data privacy law. This section is our consumer health data privacy policy for those laws.

  • What we collect. We do not collect consumer health data on purpose. The concierge and the Saved list keep your information on your device.
  • Technical data. When you visit a page, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and the address of the page. On a site about treatment, a page address could hint that someone is looking for care. We use this data only to deliver and secure the site and to count visits in totals. We do not use it to identify you, build profiles or target ads.
  • Sharing. We do not sell consumer health data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own use. Cloudflare processes technical data for us as our service provider. We would disclose data only if the law required it.
  • Location. The site does not ask for your device's location, and we do not use geofencing.
  • Your rights. You can ask us what data we have about you, ask us to delete it, or withdraw consent. Because we do not keep data that is linked to you, there is usually nothing to send or delete. You can still ask, and we will answer. If we deny a request, you can appeal by writing to us again, and we will explain our answer.

Children

This site is meant for adults looking for care for themselves or someone else. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your choices

  • Remove saved programs on your Saved page, or clear your browser data.
  • Use a private or incognito window so nothing stays on your device.
  • Block the visit counting script with a content blocker. The site still works.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
